Winterhude is located east side of the Alster – as I like to say it. It´s located between Alster, Uhlenhorst, Barmbek, Alsterdorf and Eppendorf. This atmospheric district enchants visitors of all kind. It persuades with many parks, tiny and extraordinary mansions, typical clinker brick-built buildings and restored factory architecture.

Winterhude is perfect on a sunny day. There is so much you can do. Whether you want to have coffee just next to the waterfront or you plan a canoe tour or take a tour with your bike – you can do all of it! Or maybe you want to go shopping first – no problem because tiny shops are spread all over the center of Winterhude.
And if you get tired of shopping – there is one café I really want to recommend: it is called “Café Frohlein” and they offer delicious homemade cakes, pancakes and coffee, tea and a variety of breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks. On Thursdays they have an after-work-get-together with special drinks and their classics such as Moscow Mule with freshly squeezed cucumber. Despites on Thursdays it´s always worth to check their event calendar – because they also organize cozy concerts and lectures there. Café Frohlein is definitely an insider tip. Since it is a tiny café it´s always wise to book a table, if you plan to have breakfast there on sunny Sunday morning. Last but not least the extreme lovely staff just makes your time even more memorable. And if you ask them where to go or what to do next – they are always happy to give you some inspiration.
