Hamburg got a little more Scandinavian, when the Scandic Hamburg Emporio opened its doors 1st Sept. 2012, directly in the heart of the city close to shopping and attractions. The modern hotel boasts an ideal location in central Hamburg: right on the Gänsemarkt and not far from the city’s congress centre. The design story water as well as the Scandinavian flair exude hospitality and friendliness and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. As part of its corporate philosophy, the new Scandic Hamburg Emporio takes ecological, economic and social factors into account. At the restaurant, bar and lounge “H2O” you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in a modern and relaxed lounge lounge atmosphere. The in-house restaurant, offers regional and seasonal cuisine – with a Scandinavian twist. The ingredients prepared at the live-cooking station by the guests are predominantly Fairtrade certified and come from mainly local sources. Whether you want to start your evening experiencing the delights of the neighborhood or finish it in style following a concert in the neighboring Laeiszhalle, you can enjoy what is perhaps the most varied range of gin and tonics in the city here at the Bar H2O. In 2008, Scandic Hamburg Emporio also began filtering and bottling their own water – both carbonated and still. The tasty water is served in an attractive bottle, designed by Swedish Olympic swimming gold medalist, Therese Alshammar. The recycled bottles mean savings on both transportation and purchasing resources.

Scandic knows that every disability is different and the same applies to our hotels. It is important that the guests can count on the same accessibility standards for everyone. In consultation with organizations for people with special accessibility needs, our hotel guests, and team members, and Scandic’s Accessibility Ambassador Magnus Berglund we have drawn up a checklist of 135 points which we call Scandic’s accessibility standard. This standard encompasses everything we offer and is to be an integral consideration for all products and services at the hotel. Scandic is the first hotel chain in the world to offer an interactive online training in accessibility that focuses on advice, tips, tests, and instructional videos showing how to provide really good service for guests with disabilities. To ensure the same high level of service to all guests, with or without disabilities, is an important objective for us at Scandic.
