Green Hamburg – quiet places, parks and nature in Hamburg by tracks and the city

When Sandra from the blog ‚tracks and the city‘ was last in Hamburg, she stayed at the Alsterkrug. A hotel that is so close to the Alster and virtually in nature that it is impossible not to spend a little time there.

Hamburg is often bustling, at the Landungsbrücken, on the Kiez, in Altona and St. Georg, on the beach at Övelgönne and in the shopping mile Mönckebergstraße. However, Hamburg is also called „the green metropolis on the water“ and there is plenty of green nature for the 1.8 million people who live in Hamburg, as well as for the more than 7 million tourists (every year). More than 9% of Hamburg’s land area are nature reserves – nationwide, Hamburg is at the top of the list.

Sometimes it is only a few meters from the hustle and bustle and you find yourself in the middle of greenery. Green parks and cemeteries, nature reserves and an inner-city moor. Sandra has written down for us her favorite green places in Hamburg, to catch your breath and recharge your batteries.
